Welcome to Hedgehogs' Class

We're thrilled to have you here in our small, rural setting where the great outdoors is just waiting to be explored. With our wonderful outdoor environment, we really make the most of both indoor and outdoor learning. As a one-form entry class, we pride ourselves on keeping things cosy and personal, with a small class size that ensures every child gets the attention they deserve. We can also build strong relationships with families to ensure that the first step into school is a positive and confident one.

Our dynamic team consists of two teachers: Mrs Lloyd, who takes the reins on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and Mrs Jenkinson, who continues the learning on Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs Lloyd also nurtures our Eco Club across the school, promoting environmental awareness, while Mrs Jenkinson leads our Worship Team, helping to instil our Christian values and ethos.

In Hedgehog Class, we follow the children's interests and aim to meet Early Learning Goals through a variety of engaging activities, combining both direct and independent learning. We enjoy a free-flow approach between our indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing the children to make choices about their learning. Plus, every week we dedicate an afternoon to 'Outdoor Explorers' based on forest school principles. This includes fun activities like den building, wildlife identification, singing campfire songs, and enjoying hot chocolate by our lovely fire circle.

Adding a musical flair to our week, we have a fantastic music specialist who visits to help the children sing and play percussion instruments. We also love to embark on local trips, allowing us to connect with our community.
